Abstract

An apparatus (100) for filtering noises in a signal is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a hysteresis filter circuit (110) configured to filter hysteresis noises in an input signal to obtain a first signal;an impulse noise filter circuit (120) comprising a negative noise filter circuit (130) configured to filter negative impulse noises in the first signal to obtain a second signal, and a positive noise filter circuit (140) coupled with the negative noise filter circuit (130) in parallel, and configured to filter positive impulse noises in the first signal to obtain a third signal;and a combiner circuit (150)configured to combine the second signal and the third signal to obtain an output signal. With the apparatus and the method of this disclosure, different types of noises such as hysteresis noises, positive impulse noises as well as negative impulse noises can be filtered by using common electronic components which significantly improves cost effectiveness.

Description

technical field [0001] Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to apparatus and methods for filtering noise in a signal, in particular for filtering both positive and negative impulse noise in an impulse signal. Background technique [0002] The Pulse Input Frequency Measurement Module is widely used in the process automation industry where pulse trains with various frequencies must be processed. Due to the complex electrical environment during use, there will be interference between the signals, which can lead to abnormal characteristics of signal processing, and these abnormal characteristics are often referred to as noise. [0003] For inputs with certain frequencies, noise can lead to inaccurate values of the processed signal and to incorrect calculations. Since frequency is usually measured by counting the time interval between high and low levels, the presence of noise can lead to large signal variations, which are especially undesirable for critical pr...
