Abstract

The invention relates to information prompting and transmitting methods and devices. The information prompting method comprises the following steps: when a preset registration state prompting condition is satisfied, acquiring an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) video call registration state of a target contact; and when the IMS video call registration state of the target contact is an unregistered state, prompting the unregistered state of the target contact. Through adoption of the information prompting method, a terminal user is aware of the IMS video call registration state of the target contact in advance and determines whether to send a video call request or not according to the state before a terminal initiates a video call, so that the defect of redundant signaling overhead caused by initiation of the video call request to the target contact under the condition that the target contact does not register any IMS video call service is overcome, and the user experience is improved at the same time.
