Abstract

The invention provides a hotspot region determination method and device based on geographic position data. The method comprises the steps of gridding a to-be-processed map region; carrying out statistical analysis on a grid value of each grid in preset duration, wherein the grid value is the number of users reporting the geographic position data in the corresponding grid; screening the grid values greater than a preset threshold value from the statistic grid values; determining positioning points in the grids corresponding to the screened grid values; calculating a curve containing all positioning points based on a preset algorithm according to the positioning points; and determining a region in the curve as a hotspot region. Through application of the embodiment of the invention, the hotspot region is automatically determined through utilization of the geographic position data truly reported by the users; the low efficiency and high cost resulting from artificially dividing the hotspot region are avoided, the efficiency of determining the hotspot region is improved, and the cost of determining the hotspot region is reduced.
