Embodiment Construction

[0138] figure 2 A drug delivery device in the form of an injection pen is shown. The device has a distal end ( figure 2 the left end of the center) and the proximal end ( figure 2 the right end of the middle). The components of a drug delivery device are figure 1 shown in . The drug delivery device comprises a housing 10, a cartridge holder 20, a lead screw (piston rod) 30, a driver 40, a nut 50, a dose indicator (digital sleeve) 60, a button 70, a dose selector 80, a torsion spring 90, Lock arm 100 , metering element 110 , clutch plate 120 , clutch spring 130 , support 140 and cartridge 150 . A needle assembly (not shown) with hub and cover can be provided as an additional component, which can be replaced as described above. The longitudinal axis I of the device is at Figure 4 shown in . The housing 10 or body is a generally tubular element. In the embodiment shown in the figures, the housing 10 provides a location for a liquid medicament cartridge 150 and a cart...

Abstract

The present invention is generally directed to an injection device for setting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The injection device comprises a housing (10) having a longitudinal axis (I), a dose setting member (60; 80) rotatable relative to the housing (10) during dose setting, and a torsion spring (90) which is strained during dose setting and which is attached with its first end to the housing (10) and with its second end (91) to the dose setting member (60; 80). The dose setting member (60; 80) comprises a guide or groove(68) with side walls having the form of a ring segment for receiving the second end (91) of the spring (90) and a non-return feature (69a, 69c) for anchoring the second end (91) of the spring (90) within the guide or groove (68) and / or an end feature (69b, 69d) located within the guide or groove(68) such that it pushes the second end (91) of the spring into contact with a side wall of the guide or groove (68).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to injection devices, ie drug delivery devices for selecting and dispensing a plurality of user variable doses of medicament, and methods of making such devices. Background technique [0002] Pen-type drug delivery devices are used in situations where regular injections are performed by persons without formal medical training. This may be increasingly common in patients with diabetes, where self-treatment enables such patients to effectively manage their disease. In practice, such drug delivery devices allow the user to individually select and dispense a plurality of user variable doses of medicament. The present invention does not relate to so-called fixed dose devices which only allow the dispensing of predetermined doses without the possibility to increase or decrease the set dose. [0003] There are basically two types of drug delivery devices: resettable devices (ie, reusable) and non-resettable (ie, dispo...
