Embodiment Construction

[0015] The following detailed description will explain the general principles of the invention, examples of which are further illustrated in the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, like reference numbers indicate identical or functionally similar elements.

[0016] figure 1 is an exemplary schematic illustration of a wireless lighting control system 10 . The wireless lighting control system 10 may include a portable electronic device 20 in wireless communication with a plurality of lighting fixtures 30 . In particular, each lighting fixture 30 may be part of a particular array. For example, in the illustrated embodiment, a first array 32 and a second array 34 are shown. Arrays 32 , 34 may represent lighting fixtures located in particular rooms of a home or office, which may be controlled using portable electronic device 20 . For example, in one approach, the first array 32 may be all lighting fixtures 30 in a user's bedroom. The second array 34 may represent all ligh...

Abstract

A system for controlling a plurality of peripheral devices includes a portable electronic device and a plurality of peripheral devices in wireless communication with the portable electronic device. The portable electronic device includes a processor configured to connect to each of the plurality of peripheral devices one at a time based on a round robin schedule. The processor is configured to execute instructions for searching for a broadcast signal transmitted from a selected one of the peripheral devices. The processor is configured to execute instructions for wirelessly connecting with a selected one of the plurality of peripheral devices. The processor is configured to execute instructions to send a control signal to a selected one of the plurality of peripheral devices. The processor is configured to execute instructions to terminate a connection between the portable electronic device and a selected one of the plurality of peripheral devices.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for controlling multiple peripheral devices, and more particularly to systems and methods for simultaneously wirelessly controlling multiple peripheral devices. Background technique [0002] Wireless lighting control systems may utilize radio frequency (RF) communications to transmit control signals to antenna elements installed in lighting fixtures. For example, users can turn lights on, off, or dim with wireless controls. In particular, to communicate with the antenna elements located in the lighting fixture, a user may use a portable electronic device that includes wireless control capabilities, such as a smartphone or a tablet computer. For example, portable electronic devices may include Low Energy (BLE) wireless capability to communicate wirelessly with one or more lighting fixtures. [0003] A home, office, or any other building typically includes many lighting fixtures for ligh...
