Although the devices and methods described herein may be used to percutaneously segment any kind of fibrous structure in the body, as an exemplary application, the present disclosure may sometimes refer to the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. The carpal tunnel is an anatomical compartment in the wrist bounded by the carpal bones and transverse carpal ligament. The clinical symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are primarily caused by compression of the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel.
