The method comprises the steps of monitoring an OpenStack virtual machine to be monitored by running an ocf monitoring script stored in a pacemaker cluster node; obtaining status information of the virtual machine to be monitored; judging whether or not a fault occurs to the virtual machine to be monitored according to the status information; if yes, running a repair script pre-stored in the pacemaker cluster node, calling an application interface provided by OpenStack, and conducting repair operation on the virtual machine to be monitored. According to the fault monitoring method and device for the OpenStack virtual machine, a pacemarker cluster serves as a fault monitoring center, the ocf script serves as a monitoring means, and therefore the fault of the OpenStack virtual machine is automatically monitored; the application interface provided by the OpenStack is called, the fault is repaired automatically, and the fault monitoring efficiency of the virtual machine is improved.
