[0076] test program

[0077] Test procedures used in the examples and throughout the specification include the following procedures unless otherwise indicated.

[0078] Viscosity Test Method

[0079] According to ASTM D-3236 entitled "Standard Test Method for Apparent Viscosity of Adhesives and Coating Materials (Standard Test Method for Apparent Viscosity of Adhesives and Coating Materials)" (October 31, 1988), using Brookfield, USA The company's RVDV 2 type Thermosel viscometer (BrookfieldThermosel viscometer Model RVDV 2) and No. 27 spindle to measure the viscosity. Results are reported in centipoise (cps).

Abstract

This invention claims hot melt adhesive compositions that can be used to form elastic composites that are useful in disposable absorbent articles. The compositions have good elastic recovery and high peel adhesion at a viscosity of less than about 20,000 cps at 177 DEG C. The low viscosity makes it possible to apply the adhesive at a high line speed and target application to only those areas requiring elastic performance.

Description

Background technique [0001] Adhesives are typically used to bond the substrates together. In the field of industrial adhesives, hot melt adhesives are commonly used to bond together a wide variety of articles including disposable absorbent articles with nonwoven substrates such as diapers, training pants, surgical gowns, Swimwear, absorbent underpants, adult incontinence products, sanitary napkins and medical dressings (eg, wound care products). [0002] A variety of hot melt adhesives can be used in the manufacture of disposable absorbent articles. For example, in the manufacture of disposable diapers, hot melt adhesives are used for construction (e.g., to bond the backsheet to the nonwoven and optional absorbent pad), elastic attachment (e.g., to bond the elastic material to, for example, on the backsheet in the leg region or waist region) and for core stabilization (eg, adhesives are applied to the absorbent core to increase the strength of the core). [0003] Hot melt a...
