This disclosure describes a handheld device for applying a nanofiber matrix to wound care. In some embodiments, the device includes an electrospinning apparatus for generating a nanofiber matrix for wound dressings and tissue regeneration. In some embodiments, the device may include a ring positioned above or in front of a needle or other nozzle for electrospinning. The ring may be configured to narrow and focus the electrospinning jet, facilitating more precise targeting of the patient's wound. In some embodiments, the device may include a microcontroller for real-time adjustment of electrospinning parameters during the electrospinning process. In some embodiments, the device may include an electro-centrifugal spinning apparatus. The electro-centrifugal spinning apparatus may include a spinneret operatively connected to a plurality of nozzles for electro-centrifugal spinning. The electro-centrifugal spinning apparatus may also include a rotating arm for rotating the nozzles.
