According to the method, accumulative running time of a fan or compressorof an air-energy water heater within each period is monitored; when the accumulative running time of the fan or compressor is larger than a corresponding preset threshold, filter net cleaning prompting information is outputted; and after an off signal and a closing signal that are fed back by a microswitch are received, zero clearing is carried out on the accumulative running time of the period soas to carry out determination in a next period. According to the cleaning method, the filter net is determined to be cleaned based on the off signal and the closing signal fed back by the microswitchto ensure the cleaning state of the filter net, so that the blast capacity of the evaporator is guaranteed; the heat exchange effect of the air-energy water heater is improved; and a phenomenon thatthe operation stability and service life of the air-energy water heater are affected when the heat exchange effect is poor is avoided, so that the operation stability and service life of the air-energy water heater are improved.
