The video material processing method comprises the steps of obtaining a material set of a to-be-synthesized video and determining the attribute of the material set, wherein the material set comprises multiple material elements, each material element comprises at least one ofpictures, characters, audios and videos, and the attribute comprises the playing order and the playing duration of each material element in the material set; determining an effect parameter corresponding to the material set, wherein the effect parameter corresponds to one video effect mode; and transmitting the material set and the effect parameter to a video synthesis server to enable the videosynthesis server to synthesize the multiple material elements in the material set into a video corresponding to the video effect mode based on the effect parameter and the attribute of the material set.
