590 results about "Video production" patented technology

Video production is the process of producing video content. It is the equivalent of filmmaking, but with images recorded digitally instead of on film stock. There are three stages of video production: pre-production, production (also known as principal photography), and post-production. Pre-production involves all of the planning aspects of the video production process before filming begins. This includes scriptwriting, scheduling, logistics, and other administrative duties. Production is the phase of video production which captures the video content (moving images / videography) and involves filming the subject(s) of the video. Post-production is the action of selectively combining those video clips through video editing into a finished product that tells a story or communicates a message in either a live event setting (live production), or after an event has occurred (post-production).

System and method for real time video production and multicasting

An integrated, fully automated video production system provides a video director with total control over all of the video production devices used to produce and broadcast a show. Such devices include, but are not limited to, cameras, robotic pan / tilt heads, video tape players and recorders (VTRs), video servers and virtual recorders, character generators, still stores, digital video disk players (DVDs), audio mixers, digital video effects (DVE), video switchers, and teleprompting systems. The video production system provides an automation capability that allows the video director to pre-produce a show, review the show in advance of “air time,” and then, with a touch of a button, produce the live show. In one embodiment, the invention provides a video production system having a processing unit in communication with one or more of the video production devices. The processing unit also records the show or elements from the show following its production. The show or elements can be recalled for subsequent broadcasts. An Internet interface supports live or on-demand requests for content from the video production. In an embodiment, an online user selects specific. elements and reorganizes the elements to personalize a broadcast. The processing unit receives and executes the online request to continuously stream or download the content to the user. In an embodiment, various supporting features enhance and extend the content of the video production, such as real time polling, hyperlinks to related web sites, video captions, and the like.

Delivery and transmission of dolby digital AC-3 over television broadcast

Methods and apparatus for broadcasting high quality audio “studio direct” with the same digital information employed in the studio by the video producer with AC-3 digital audio signals for broadcast to integrated receiver decoders (IRD). The methods and apparatus permit proper handling of AC-3 data by switching signals to encoders in response to detection of the encoded signals representing compression of the data. Control over individual data bits such as copyright bits is maintained by determining the bit status, comparing it to a preferred status, changing the status if it does not comply with the preferred status, and reevaluating cyclical redundancy check value in each data packet to avoid disruption in the data transmission. In addition, the system includes an uplink device which automatically checks, logs and reports errors in Dolby Digital AC-3 signals by a monitor which employs a processor, a digital audio card and an SMPTE timecode reader. As an option, an ethernet interface may be provided to permit AC-3 transmission to expedite storage and transmission of the audio data by media such as compact disks. The monitor employs a state machine that finds AC-3 packets, locks into the packets and detects discontinuities or loss of signal. The monitor then computes and checks the cyclical redundancy check value of the AC-3 packet found. In addition, the system enables the device to play AC-3 signals such as Dolby Digital out in sync with video signals, regardless of the storage media for the files. A sound card having an input for receiving house reference AES clock pulses enables the AES clock of the playback signal to be locked to the frequency of a production house master as a time code reader or an editor's contact closure match video and audio signals playback.

Integrated multi-format audio/video production system

A multi-format digital video production system enables a user to process an input video program to produce an output version of the program in a final format which may have a different frame rate, pixel dimensions, aspect ratio, or any combination thereof. An internal production format of 24 fps is preferably chosen to provide the greatest compatibility with existing and planned formats associated with HDTV standard 4:3 or widescreen 16:9 high-definition television, and film. Images are re-sized horizontally and vertically by pixel interpolation, thereby producing larger or smaller image dimensions so as to fill the particular needs of individual applications. Frame rates are adapted by inter-frame interpolation or by traditional schemes, including “3:2 pull-down” for 24-to-30 fps conversions. Simple speed-up (for 24-to-25 conversions) or slow-down (for 25-to-24 conversions) for playback, or by manipulating the frame rate itself using a program storage facility with asynchronous reading and writing capabilities. The step of converting the signal to a HDTV format is preferably performed using a higher sampling clock frequency and a resizing to HDTV format frame dimensions in pixels. An integrated system having digital television standard conversion capabilities is disclosed, wherein audio/video input signals are received in high-speed serialized form, transferred to a high-speed data bus, and fed to one or more standards converters operating according to the invention, thereby providing a variety of serial or parallel digital signal outputs. The system may further include a wide-/local-area network interface, mass storage, digital effects unit and workstations for multiple users.

Audio and/or video generation apparatus and method of generating audio and/or video signals

An audio and / or video generation apparatus comprises a recording processor which is operable to record audio and / or video signals on a recording medium, a meta data generation processor which is operable to generate meta data identifying the content of the audio / video signals, and a communications processor which arranged to communicate the meta data separately from the recording medium. Furthermore, the meta data generation processor may be operable to generate at least one sample image which is representative of a video image from the recorded video signals, and to associate the sample image with an address on the recording medium at which the video image is recorded. The video and / or audio generation apparatus provides an advantage in generating and utilising meta data to facilitate the generation of audio / video productions. Accordingly, a system for generating an audio and / or video production comprises an acquisition processor operable in use to receive instructions from a user which instructions are representative of a list of content items for the audio and / or video production. The audio and / or video generation apparatus is arranged in use to receive information representative of the list of content items, and to generate audio and / or video signals in accordance with the content items on the list. An ingestion processor may be provided to receive the list of content items, and the audio and / or video signals and to form the audio and / or video production by associating the audio and / or video signals with the list of content items.

Real time production system and method

An integrated, fully automated video production system that provides a video director with total control over all of the video production devices used in producing a show. In one embodiment, the invention provides a video production system having a processing unit in communication with one or more of the video production devices mentioned above. The processing unit displays on a monitor graphical controls for controlling the variety of video production devices that it is in communication with. A video director uses a keyboard and mouse that are interfaced with the processing unit to activate the graphical controls, and thereby remotely control the video production devices from one location. The processing unit also enables the video director to automate the production of a show. According to one embodiment, the video director pre-produces the show, defines a set of video production commands or instructions (hereafter “transition macro”) to be executed by the processing unit, and then, by activating a control button displayed by the processing unit, the video director instructs the processing unit to execute the transition macro. Each video production command in a transition macro directs the processing unit to transmit in series and / or parallel one or more control commands to one or more of the video production devices when required.
