Abstract

The present invention aims to provide an insulation displacement contact device which allows a fast, simple and error-proof installation process for electrical connection cables, which device should be suitable for a wide range of cable sizes, which cables have sheaths and conductors. The IDC device of the present invention includes a blade member and a biasing member, wherein the blade member includes opposing blades each having a cutting edge terminating in a contact groove defined between the blades, wherein the biasing member is U-shaped And surrounding the blade element, it is characterized in that the biasing element is slidably held by the blade element in a sliding direction substantially parallel to the contact groove. In the method of the invention, the cable is inserted along its longitudinal direction into the insertion opening defined between the cutting edge and the biasing element.
