Abstract

The invention provides a metal detecting positioning system which is used for detecting metal. The system comprises at least one metal identification signal receiving unit and a master controller. Themetal identification signal receiving unit comprises a first metal identification area and a second metal identification area which are surrounded by continuous winding coils. The master controller receives the signal of the metal identification signal receiving unit and compares the signal of the metal identification signal receiving unit with a reference signal, thereby generating a metal detecting signal and a metal positioning signal. The metal detecting positioning system and the method thereof are suitable for detection of metal foreign matters on the condition of existence of an external magnetic field. Compared with a traditional solution of performing metal detection by means of an electromagnetic signal of an electromagnetic transmitter, the metal detecting system according to the invention is not affected by the external magnetic field. In a fixed magnetic field environment or an alternate magnetic field environment with known or unknown field strength, whether metal existscan be identified.
