Abstract

The embodiments of the application provide encoding and decoding methods and devices for multidimensional video data. The encoding method includes the following steps: detecting the current network transmission parameters during the transmission of multidimensional video data, wherein the multidimensional video data includes M frames of original image data at the same time point; determining the number of images N according to the network transmission parameters; extracting N frames of original image data from the M frames of original image data according to the number of images N; and encoding the N frames of original image data to obtain N frames of target image data. Through the embodiments of the invention, the number of frames of original image data can be appropriately reduced according to the actual transmission situation, and thus, the occupation of bandwidth is reduced. In addition, as the occupation of bandwidth is reduced, the original image data can be encoded at a high bitrate, there is no need to encode the original image data at a low bit rate because of bandwidth limitation, and the resolution of multidimensional video data is ensured.
