Embodiment Construction

[0051] Specific details are set forth below, such as specific examples for purposes of explanation and not limitation. However, one skilled in the art will recognize that other embodiments may be employed without these specific details. In some instances, detailed descriptions of well-known methods, nodes, interfaces, circuits and devices are omitted so as not to obscure the description with unnecessary detail. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the described functions may be implemented using hardware circuits (e.g., analog and / or discrete logic gates interconnected to perform specific functions, ASICs, PLAs, etc.) and / or using software programs and data associated with one or more Multiple digital microprocessors or general purpose computers are implemented in combination in one or more nodes. Nodes that communicate using the air interface also have suitable radio communication circuitry. Furthermore, the techniques may also be considered entirely implemented in...

Abstract

According to an exemplary embodiment, there is provided a method of operating a terminal device. The method comprises operating (701) the terminal device in a connected state with respect to the communication network. The method further comprises receiving (703) a first signal from a first radio access node in the communication network indicating that the connected state is to be suspended, the first signal comprising information for use in determining a first key for encrypting data to be sent between the terminal device and the first radio access node or another radio access node in the communication network if the connected state is resumed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to wireless access points and terminal devices in communication networks. Background technique [0002] In a typical cellular radio system, radio or wireless terminals (also called mobile stations, user equipment (UE) or more generally terminal equipment) communicate via a radio access network (RAN) with one or more core networks. The geographical area covered by the radio access network (RAN) is divided into cell areas, where each cell area is served by a base station, such as a radio base station (RBS), also referred to in some networks as a "NodeB" (in general Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS)) or "eNodeB" (in Long Term Evolution (LTE)), or more generally, a Wireless Access Point. A cell is a geographical area where base station equipment provides radio coverage at a base station site. Each cell is identified by an identifier within the local radio area that is broadcast within the cell. The base station commu...
