Abstract

The invention provides a dehydration process applied to the synthesis of alkyd or polyester resin. The dehydration process comprises a dehydration step. According to the dehydration step, monomers foresterification are mixed with a dehydrating agent so as to obtain an esterification product and a dehydrating agent-water azeotrope; the mass of the dehydrating agent accounts for 3 to 6% of the massof the monomers; and the dehydrating agent comprises methyl isobutyl ketone. The dehydration process of the invention utilizes the dehydrating agent containing methyl isobutyl ketone to remove waterproduced in esterification and does not affect the synthesis of the alkyd or polyester resin; and the residual amount of the dehydrating agent in the alkyd or polyester resin is low, as low as no morethan 0.03%.
