The location device comprises a ceramic capacitive core insulator, a partial signal extractiondevice, a charge indicator and a partial discharge detection device. The method for partial discharge location of the switch cabinet mainly comprises partial discharge phasing and location, and comprises the steps of: testing partial signals of an A phase, a B phase and a C phase of a switch cabinet, wherein the strongest one of the partial discharge signals is a partial discharge phase; testing partial discharge signals of a switch cabinet to which the partial discharge phase belongs and two switch cabinets adjacent to the switch cabinet; if the partial discharge signals of the switch cabinetwhich the partial discharge phase belongs to are the strongest, taking the partial discharge phase of the switch cabinet as a partial discharge position; and if the partial discharge signals of the switch cabinet cannot meet the requirement of the strongest partial discharge signals, retesting other three adjacent switch cabinets until the strongest partial discharge signals are found. Therefore,the device for partial discharge location of a switch cabinet is high in location anti-interference capacity and high in sensitivity.
