Embodiment Construction

[0074] The subject matter described herein relates to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for testing time-sensitive network (TSN) elements. A TSN may include various TSN nodes or elements (eg, repeaters and end stations) having clocks that have synchronized times. For example, the TSN and / or nodes therein may use various time synchronization mechanisms, such as time synchronization protocols, such as IEEE gPTP or IEEE PTP based protocols. Transmitting TSN elements (eg, repeaters and speakers) can know when they are scheduled to transmit. For example, each transmitting TSN element may use a time-aware shaper (TAS) and / or one or more TSN schedulers (eg, gate access lists and / or stream transmission schedules) for one or more TSN flows. In this example, a gate access list may indicate when to open or close a gate or transmission window (e.g., one or more switch ports) for a particular flow (e.g., one or more flows) to be transmitted, and a flow transmission schedule ma...

Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer readable media for testing time sensitive network (TSN) elements are disclosed. According to one method for testing a TSN element, the method occurs at a test system. The method includes synchronizing a test system clock with a clock at a system under test (SUT). The method also includes receiving a sequence of messages, wherein the sequence of messages is generatedusing schedule rules associated with a TSN stream. The method further includes determining, using timing information associated with the test system clock, whether the schedule rules are accurately implemented by the SUT.

Description

[0001] priority claim [0002] This application claims the benefit of Romanian Patent Application No. a 00246 2017 filed on April 25, 2017, the disclosure of which is fully incorporated into this application by reference. technical field [0003] The subject matter described in this application relates to testing network elements. More specifically, the subject matter relates to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for testing time-sensitive network (TSN) elements. Background technique [0004] A time-sensitive network can be defined generally as a network that can communicate at least some time-sensitive data. Therefore, time-sensitive networks must be able to transmit time-sensitive data within an acceptable amount of time. While many of today's communication networks follow a best-effort approach (e.g., various Ethernet and Internet Protocol (IP)-based networks), best-effort approaches are generally not suitable for time-sensitive applications, Because even sl...
