The method comprises the steps of controlling a positioning module to position the photovoltaic module so as to acquire position information of the photovoltaic module; controlling a temperature sensor to obtain a temperature value of the positioned photovoltaic module; comparing the temperature value of the positioned photovoltaic module with a preset temperature value; controlling a visible light camera to shoot and record the photovoltaic module to acquire picture and video of a fault photovoltaic module ifthe temperature value of the positioned photovoltaic module is larger than the preset temperature value, otherwise controlling the positioning module to position a next photovoltaic module, and returning to the step of controlling the temperature sensor to acquire the temperature value of the positioned photovoltaic module; and controlling a wireless communication module to send the picture, thevideo and the position information of the fault photovoltaic module to a communication base station.
