Abstract

The invention discloses a bit-rate asymptotic switching method and system for a dynamic adaptive HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) stream. The method comprises broadband estimation and bit-rate switching. According to the bit-rate asymptotic switching method for the dynamic adaptive HTTP stream, a network bandwidth is estimated more strictly, and a bit rate is selected more reasonably, so that an unsmooth playing phenomenon in a video playing process rarely exists; meanwhile, the bandwidth is used to the greatest extent, so that an average bit rate of a video is relatively high, and the video quality is optimized; a bit-rate switching strategy is more comprehensive, which enables the number of times of bit-rate switching to be as small as possible; furthermore, in case of switching, theswitching action is also controlled to be performed stage by stage as far as possible; the whole bit-rate adaptive process is higher in stability and smoothness; and therefore, a high-quality experience requirement of a user in a film watching process is guaranteed.
