Abstract

A reusable drinking straw that folds into a compact configuration for storage and easy transport in a storage box. The straw includes a rigid outer tube and a flexible inner tube that collapses into a compact configuration for storage. In the collapsed configuration, the reusable straw has a significantly reduced length, approximately one-half to one-fourth of its extended length when in use. The outer tube of the straw is preferably formed from a plurality of rigid segments for supporting the flexible inner tube in the extended configuration during use as a drinking straw. A simple cleaning device is provided to clean the straw after use. A storage box is provided to store the straws and store the cleaning device in a folded configuration, in a compact form.

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of Provisional Application No. 62 / 579,013, filed October 30, 2017, and Provisional Application No. 62 / 658,976, filed April 17, 2018; the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Background technique [0003] Over 500,000,000 plastic straws are used every day in the United States and thrown away after one use. In the last two decades alone, in an example of extreme waste for convenience, plastic straws have been expected in every drink. These short-lived tools are often thrown in the trash without thinking, instantly becoming a source of plastic pollution. (http: / / www.plasticpollutioncoalition.org / no-straw-please / ) [0004] That's enough straws to consume 500 million single-use plastic straws to go around the circumference of the Earth 2.5 times a day. Currently, it is nearly impossible to recycle plastic straws, which often end up in the landfill. Plastic stra...
