Embodiment Construction

[0071] figure 1 A perspective view of a crown portion of a tire is depicted. A Cartesian frame of reference (XX', YY', ZZ') is associated with each meridian plane. Said tire comprises a tread 2 intended to come into contact with the ground via a tread surface 21 . Provided on said tread are grooves of width W, which may vary from one circumferential groove to another, and circumferential grooves 25 , each said groove having a main profile 241 and 242 and bottom surface 243 . The tire further comprises a crown reinforcement 3 comprising working reinforcements 4 and here by way of example hooping reinforcements 5 . The working reinforcement comprises at least one working layer, for example here two working layers 41 and 42 each comprising mutually parallel reinforcing elements. Also depicted is the radially outer surface SRE of the radially outermost working layer 41 .

Abstract

The invention relates to a tyre (1) for a vehicle, comprising a radially outermost working layer (41) in turn comprising at least one undulation (412) vertically in line with a rib (26). The undulation (412) is such that it is radially external to the points of the working layer (41) vertically in line with the centre of the bottom surface (243) of the circumferential groove (25) closest to the undulation (412), and such that the minimum radial distance (do) between the radially outer surface of the radially outermost working layer (41) and the rolling surface (21) is at least 1mm less than the radial distance (dc) between the radially outer surface (SRE) of the radially outermost working layer (41) and the rolling surface (21), the distance vertical to the circumferential groove (25) closest to the undulation (412) in question.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to tires intended to be fitted to vehicles, and more particularly to the crown of said tyres. [0002] Since the geometry of the tire exhibits rotational symmetry about the axis of rotation, the geometry of the tire is usually described in a meridian plane including the axis of rotation of the tire. For a given meridian plane, radial, axial and circumferential directions denote directions perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the tire, parallel to the axis of rotation of the tire and perpendicular to the meridian plane, respectively. A circumferential meridian plane known as the equatorial plane divides the tire into two substantially symmetrical half-torus shapes, and the tire may exhibit tread, structural asymmetries related to manufacturing precision or gluing. [0003] Hereinafter, the expressions "radially inner" and "radially outer" mean "closer in the radial direction to the axis of rotation of the tire" and "fart...
