Abstract

The present invention relates to a capacitive touch sensor and a method for operating the capacitive touch sensor. The technical problem solved by the present invention is that conventional capacitivetouch sensors cannot distinguish between finger touches and other non-touch stimuli (such as water). The capacitive touch sensor may comprise a plurality of drive electrodes and a reception electrode, wherein two capacitors are formed. Under various conditions, the capacitive touch sensor may be configured to trigger a touch event in the presence of a human finger and trigger a non-touch event inthe presence of water. The technical effect achieved by the present invention is to provide the capacitive touch sensor capable of distinguishing between finger touch and water.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to capacitive touch sensors and methods for operating capacitive touch sensors. Background technique [0002] Mutual capacitance touch sensors operate by detecting and / or measuring the capacitance of a capacitive sensing element and detecting and / or measuring a change in capacitance indicative of the touch or presence of a conductive object. When a conductive object (eg, finger, water) approaches and / or makes contact with a capacitive sensing element, a change in capacitance and the conductive object are detected. A circuit may be utilized to measure the change in capacitance of the capacitive touch sensing element, and the circuit may convert the measured capacitance of the capacitive sensing element to a voltage and / or a digital value to represent a touch event and alternatively a non-touch event (no touch ). [0003] However, in many conventional systems, the presence of water on a capacitive touch sensor may trigger ...
