Embodiment Construction

[0028] Figure 1a A boundary layer sucking aircraft propulsion unit, also known as a BLI propulsion unit, is shown. BLI is an acronym for BoundaryLayer Ingestion. The relative axial positions of the propulsion unit components will then be indicated with respect to the direction of the propulsion airflow through the propulsion unit.

[0029] Typically, a propulsion unit of this type comprises a power plant 1 with an engine 17 located in the rear part 27 of the fuselage. The engine has a rotor 18 that normally engages the transmission. The transmission outlet is connected with the fan shaft 10 so as to drive the fan 4 to rotate. The transmission may be a planetary gear train 19 , as shown, or any other transmission system capable of adjusting the rotational speed of the fan shaft 10 to match the rotational speed of the rotor 18 . The engine 17 may be a turbine or a turbojet, as is most usual, or any other type of engine, such as an electric motor. In the BLI type propulsion ...

Abstract

The invention relates to an aircraft propulsion unit and an aircraft rear part therewith. The aircraft propulsion unit includes a drive unit (1) with a static part (2) and a rotary part (3) which rotates a fan (4) situated downstream from the drive unit (1), an assembly (6) of fixed blades situated downstream from the fan (4), and a nacelle (7) in which the fan (4) and the assembly (6) of fixed blades are accommodated. The propulsion unit also includes an assembly of at least two coaxial shafts, wherein a fan shaft connects the fan to the rotary part, and a stator blading shaft connecting theassembly of fixed blades to the static part extends concentrically, and for at least part of its length in the interior of the fan shaft. This rigid and compact configuration limits the variations ofdistance between the end of the fan blades (5) and a fan housing (9) situated in the inner duct of the nacelle (7).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an aircraft propulsion unit, in particular to its structure and its installation on an aircraft. Background technique [0002] The general configuration of a commercial aircraft most commonly has a fuselage, wings comprising two wings, a rear empennage. Such aircraft also include one or more propulsion units, most often turbojet engines. The propulsion unit can be installed on the aircraft in different configurations. The propulsion units are most often suspended from the underwings by struts; however, they can also be struted to the rear of the fuselage or to the empennage. [0003] As an aircraft moves through the air, its outer surfaces affect the flow of air. In particular, when an aerodynamic shape moves in the atmosphere, a boundary layer is created on the surface of the aerodynamic shape. This boundary layer corresponds to the region where the velocity of the air is slowed down due to the viscosity of the air in cont...
