Abstract

The invention relates to prioritization of information technology infrastructure incidents, and specifically provides a method, a computer program product, and a system wherein a processor(s) obtainsnotifications of issues experienced in computing resources allocated to an entity from a shared distributed computing environment and notifications of events with discernable impacts on business performance measures of the entity. The processor(s) quantifies a technical performance impact of each issue and a business performance impact of each event. The processor(s) cognitively analyzes the business performance impact of each event and the technical performance impact of each issue to correlate a portion of the quantified events with a portion of the quantified issues. The processor(s) prioritizes, the portion of the issues by severity of business performance impact. The processor(s) mitigates the portion of the issues experienced in the computing resources allocated to the entity, in order of priority.

Description

Background technique [0001] As computing systems become more complex, and the resources used by a given user become less focused, problems that affect efficiency can occur within the computing system, but are difficult to diagnose and resolve. Given the complexity of these distributed systems, including cloud computing systems, prioritization of problems perceived by monitoring system resources for migration purposes can be problematic. Many existing monitoring systems do not provide prioritization, but only trigger mitigation actions when these problems are discovered. These systems lack a dynamic prioritization system that can automatically align incident priorities with established criteria, including, but not limited to, business needs (i.e., needs that affect the efficiency and / or continuity with which resources are utilized by the business and determine the system's efficacy for the business ). Users who are familiar with an organization's business needs are rarely fam...
