For example, an automotive application may use one or more ultrasonic sensors to sense the distance of objects behind, beside, or in front of a car. The present application discloses systems and methods that provide enhanced ultrasonic detection of obstacles, especially when multiple ultrasonic transducers are operating simultaneously. Discrimination of echoes from ultrasonic signals produced by different transducers is improved by encoding the transmitted signal bursts and processing the received echoes with knowledge of this encoded information.
