Embodiment Construction

[0082] The inventive concept will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which present preferred variants of the inventive concept are shown. However, the inventive concepts may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the variations set forth herein; rather, these variations are provided to be thorough and complete, and to fully convey the scope of the inventive concepts to those skilled in the art .

[0083] will now refer to Figure 1A to Figure 1D The method is exemplified in a video surveillance operation. Those skilled in the art realize that the intensity of an object in a thermal image can be related to the temperature of the object.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for converting alerts. A method (600) and an alert discriminator (730) for converting alerts in a video monitoring operation are provided. The method (600) comprises:triggering (S602) a candidate alert, in response to detecting, in a stream of thermal images of a scene, a stationary foreground object in the scene; evaluating (S604) an intensity of the detected stationary foreground object (220, 320, 420) in relation to a background intensity; and in response to the intensity of the detected stationary foreground object (220, 320, 420) being above the background intensity, converting (S606) the candidate alert to an actual alert.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for switching an alarm in a video surveillance operation and an alarm discriminator configured to switch an alarm in a video surveillance operation. Background technique [0002] Thermal cameras are widely used in many different applications. For example, thermal cameras can be used for automatic detection and identification in video surveillance, where video surveillance of traffic is becoming an increasingly important application. Such systems that monitor traffic are often capable of automatically triggering an alarm when certain events are detected, such as accidents, fires, vehicles, people, or discarded goods. These alarm triggers are often implemented in several ways, and it is of interest to reduce the number of false alarms. [0003] A difficult false alarm to deal with is snow falling from vehicles in traffic tunnels. Such events are often misidentified as, for example, dropped goods or stopped veh...
