The OLP channel protection switching method comprises: (1) installing optical fiber line automatic protection switching devices and wavelength conversion devices between main and standby routes of an SDH system in pairs; (2) accessing light-emitting signals TX of main and standby routes of the SDH system to an optical fiber line automatic protection switching device, and outputs of the light-emitting signals TX being respectively accessed to the optical fiber line automatic protection switching device and a wavelength conversion device at opposite ends; (3) the wavelength conversion device converting the light waves, outputting the converted light waves to an MCU combiner, and transmitting the light waves to a DEMUX wave separator; (4) the output of the DEMUX wave separator passing through the wavelength conversion device at the opposite end and then being output to the optical fiber line automatic protection switching device at the opposite end; the SDH system main and standby route at the opposite end receiving a light receiving signal RX of the adjacent optical fiber line automatic protection switching device; if the main line fails, realizing standby protection through standby OTN surplus waves.
