Abstract

The method is characterized in that a group of upper and lower bridge arms are added on the basis of a traditional half-bridge MMC (modular multilevel converter), and the DC fault can be cleared under the assistance of proper control, and comprises the steps: in a normal working state of the direct current side, the front M sub-modules of the upper bridge arm are in a cut-off state, and the rear M sub-modules are in an input state; when a short-circuit fault occurs at the direct current side, trigger pulsesof the front M sub-modules of the ARM-PLUS upper bridge arm and the rear M sub-modules of the lower bridge arm are blocked to work in a locked state; if the residual voltage of the direct current side is relatively high, the ARM-PLUS is controlled to work in a reverse Boost state; an isolation switch is added at a DC output side, and permanent faults can be eliminated; and after the short-circuitfault is eliminated, and when the short-circuit current reaches a zero value, waiting for ms is performed until short-circuit arc is completely extinguished, and the ARM-PLUS is recovered to a normalworking state.
