Embodiment Construction

[0057] Such as figure 1 As shown, the present invention discloses a method for real-time simplification of a 3D tree model based on viewpoint mutual information. The main steps include dividing the tree into multiple nodes, sorting the leaves according to the visual importance based on VMI, and generating incremental LODs for the branches. Model, calculate real-time simplification rate for nodes and optimization measures during rendering. The technical solution of the present invention will be further introduced below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and specific embodiments.

Abstract

The invention discloses a three-dimensional tree model real-time simplification method based on viewpoint mutual information. The method can enable rendering of trees in a forest scene to be smootherand obtain a better visualization effect, and specifically comprises the following steps: dividing the trees into nodes with father-son relationships according to topological relationships among branches, and organizing the nodes in a form of a multi-way tree; calculating the visual importance of each leaf in each leaf node according to the viewpoint mutual information VMI, and reordering the leaves according to the visual importance; and proposing a plurality of factors influencing the real-time simplification rate of the nodes, and setting a corresponding function for each factor to determine the real-time simplification rate of the nodes. Optimization measures for rendering a large-scale forest scene, including LOD switching control, distant view crown replacement rendering and the like, are provided. By means of VMI-based leaf sorting, the visual appearance characteristics of trees can be well kept while the high simplification rate is achieved. In addition, better visualization effect and rendering efficiency are ensured by optimization measures in the rendering process.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the field of computer graphics and virtual geographic environment, and in particular relates to a real-time simplification method of a three-dimensional tree model based on Viewpoint Mutual Information (VMI). Background technique [0002] Currently, the simplification methods for 3D tree models mainly include image-based methods and geometry-based methods. Among them, the image-based rendering method (Image-based rendering, IBR) uses the two-dimensional image of the tree instead of the geometric model for rendering, thereby significantly reducing the rendering burden and improving rendering efficiency. But since images are two-dimensional objects, this method has some unavoidable disadvantages. First of all, due to the limitation of image resolution, this method generally cannot be used for the rendering of close-range models, otherwise it will produce a strong sense of unrealism; second, the visualization effect of this metho...
