Embodiment Construction

[0058] As previously stated, the present invention relates to a device 10 for use in the treatment of hemorrhoids. The device comprises an elongated tubular element 12 constituting the housing of the device. The tubular element 12 comprises a rounded front end 13 intended to be placed in the patient's rectum. The tubular element further comprises an open rear end 14 intended to be arranged outside the patient's rectum during use of the device. The rear end 14 is slightly curved outward. Inside the tubular element an internal cavity accessible via the open rear end 14 is formed. The tubular element is substantially straight and extends along the longitudinal axis L. The tubular element can be made in different lengths and its cross-sectional shape transverse to the axis L is substantially circular in order to facilitate insertion of the device at the start of the treatment. Alternative cross-sectional shapes are also oval, triangular, rectangular, pentagonal or hexagonal, e...

Abstract

The present invention relatets to a device (10) for use in the treatment of hemorrhoids. The device comprises: an elongated tube-shaped element (12) comprising a forward end (13) and an aft end (14),the aft end (14) is open such that the interior of the tube-shaped element is accessible via the aft end, the tube-shaped element is extending along a longitudinal axis L and comprises at least one opening (15) formed between the forward and aft end; and an anal mucosa support device (20) removably arranged within the tube shape element, the support device is, when arranged in the tube-shaped element, exposed in the opening and comprises a least two cavities (23, 24) for the anal mucosa arranged along the longitudinal axis L, wherein a needle guide structure is formed in the elongated tube-shaped element and the anal mucosa support device such that a needle (100) is guided during movement within the tube shaped element from an extracted position in which the needle is arranged outside theopening in the elongated tube-shaped element through the at least two cavities in the anal mocusa support device to a position where the needle extend across the opening in the tube-shaped element.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device for use in the treatment of hemorrhoids. Background technique [0002] Up to 25% of people over the age of 50 suffer from hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can be painful and cause serious problems for those affected. [0003] Several treatments exist, all of which are associated with varying degrees of complications. One of the most common modern techniques is to occlude the artery feeding to the anus with a ligature; after that, the mucosa is lifted and fixed in the raised position by means of 4 to 5 stitches. [0004] A device intended for the aforementioned surgical treatment is disclosed in EP 1 683 473 B1. The elongated device is introduced into the patient's rectum and allows the surgeon to ligate the artery to the rectum by using a built-in ultrasound device and access the anal mucosa via the space within the device and the opening formed in the surrounding wall of the device. In order to restore the anatomi...
