[0063] The present disclosure relates to a wireless photonic method for photodynamic therapy (PDT) that may enable on-demand photoactivation of photosensitizers deep within the body. A system including an implantable photonic device and a wireless power delivery system delivers therapeutic doses of light into tissue inaccessible to direct illumination. Miniaturized size (30mg, 15mm 3 ) device allows it to be implanted directly at the target site, where a specialized radiofrequency system wirelessly powers the device and monitors the light dose rate.
