Abstract

The present invention realizes a configuration wherein biological information of a driver is inputted in order to assess the driver's wakefulness level. According to the present invention, the wakefulness of a driver is assessed by applying a result of motion analysis of the driver's eyeballs and / or pupils and a wakefulness assessment dictionary unique to the driver. A data processing unit executes assessment of the driver's wakefulness level using the wakefulness assessment dictionary that has been generated as a result of learning processing based on log data of the driver's biological information and that is unique to the driver. The data processing unit further executes estimation of a recovery time required until the driver can start safe manual driving. A learning device used to perform estimation processing based on observable information becomes able, through continuing utilization of the device, to establish the correlation between observable eyeball motion of a driver and thedriver's wakefulness level using multidimensional factors. Utilizing secondary information, it is also possible to derive, from a long-term variation of an observable value, an index of activity taking place within the driver's brain.
