The life characteristic detection and identification method is used for solving the technical problem of rescue failure caused by complex environment of an existing rescue robot. The life characteristic detection and identification method comprises the following steps that 1, an O-shaped detectionarea is constructed with the position of the rescue robot as a starting point, and an obstacle avoidance system of the rescue robot is started; 2, rescue scanning is performed on the O-shaped detection area by using a carbon dioxide detector to obtain a target point set; 3, target detection is carried out on the target point set by utilizing an infrared detector, and a target point to be rescued is determined; and 4, third-stage identification is performed on the to-be-rescued target point by utilizing a radar life detector, the specific position of a rescuer is determined, and a distress signal is sent by a controller of the rescue robot to timely notify rescue workers to rescue. According to the life characteristic detection and identification method, the multiple detectors are combined,so that the recognition precision is improved, the rescue time is shortened, and the rescue robot has the capability of efficiently and accurately detecting the vital signs of a human body.
