The invention discloses a method for adjusting and optimizing performance of a linux system, which comprises the steps of selecting a reference tuning linux operating system compared with a to-be-tuned linux operating system, installing two systems on the same server, testing the two systems by using the same performance testing tool to test performance of the two systems by using the same performance testing tool; screening out the test items of which the test scores of the to-be-tuned linux operating system are lower than the test scores of the reference tuned linux operating system, then excluding irrelevant items from the low-score test items, and finally excluding and optimizing the remaining low-score test items after the irrelevant items so that all software packages of the to-be-tuned linux operating system are prevented from being sequentially subjected to performance testing and tuning.
