The present disclosure is in the field of ointments which can be useful for the treatment of diseases or conditions associated with lipid barrier damage of the skin. The ointment comprises a semifluorinated alkane and a solid thickening agent, e.g. a wax, a triglyceride, cetyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate or tetradecanol.

[0001] The present invention relates to ointments comprising semifluorinated alkanes. The ointment of the present invention can be used as an ointment base for the preparation of other pharmaceutical or cosmetic compositions. In particular, the ointment of the present invention can be used for the treatment of skin diseases and disorders associated with damage to the lipid barrier of the skin, such as psoriasis, dermatitis, acne and related symptoms.
