Abstract

A data update technique is provided. A storage system (100) applying the technique includes a management node (110) and a plurality of storage nodes (112, 114, 116, 118). The plurality of storage nodes (112, 114, 116, 118) constitute a redundant array of disks (RAID). In the storage system (100), when a management node (110) determines that a write request received by the management node does not update all data in a whole partition, the management node (110) directly sends updated data pieces obtained according to data to be written to corresponding storage nodes (112, 114, 116, 118) respectively. The storage nodes (112, 114, 116, 118) receiving the update data pieces do not directly update the data blocks stored in the external storage device according to the received update data pieces, but store the update data pieces in a non-volatile memory (NVM) of the storage nodes in a log chain manner. The data updating method can reduce the write amplification problem in the striping updating process, and improves the updating performance of the storage system (100).
