Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a method for joining a sealing strip seam of a vehicle body opening and apparatus thereof, the method comprises the following steps: a sealing strip applying step: a sealing strip is applied to a flange of the vehicle body opening by means of a sealing strip applicator, wherein the sealing strip comprises a starting end and a contact section, an upstream end of the contact section defining a rolling position; a detection step: a sensor is used for detecting the distance between the rolling position and the starting end part; a rolling stopping step: when the sensor detects that the distance is equal to a set distance, a sealing strip applicator stops rolling; a sealing strip cutting step: the sealing strip is cut by using a cutting device to form a seam end part; a sealing strip pre-positioning step: the seam end portion is grasped with a grabber and the seam end portion is pulled toward the starting end portion so as to pre-position the seam end portion to a pre-positioning position about to approach the starting end portion when the contact section is in a substantially straight state; and a continued sealing strip rolling step: the sealing strip applicator is actuated to continually roll the sealing strip until the seam end is engaged with the starting end.
