The invention relates to a method for ascertaining a calculated state of charge of a battery of a battery-driven machine; the method comprises the following steps: providing operating parameters of the battery; providing the calculated state of charge in the machine by means of a distribution model which indicates the calculated state of charge as a function of the modeled no-load voltage of the battery; ascertaining a reference state-of-charge from the operating variable by means of a reference state-of-charge model, the reference state-of-charge model being trained in order to specify the reference state-of-charge from the operating variable and in particular from a predefined aging state; and performing a correction on the modeled no-load voltage as a function of the difference between the reference state of charge and the calculated state of charge in order to ascertain the calculated state of charge from the corrected no-load voltage by means of the distribution model.
