Abstract

A system and method for optimizing aircraft or vessel performance by analyzing engine degradation based on performance detection and trend of a vehicle gas turbine. The system and method detect a decrease in engine power due to an in-transit event or an extended engine life, the decrease being due to conventional engine part aging or events. As engine power gradually or suddenly deteriorates, the system and method reduces a maximum operating line that defines a safety limit of peak engine power consumption during flight. For an in-transit event, the system and method detect when an actual power consumption approaches a current maximum operating line. The controller may then automatically change the operation of the fully independent aircraft system, such as rebalancing the power consumption of various non-engine elements of the aircraft.
