Abstract

A converting module realizing the interfacing of two standard interfaces on ATM and physical payers contains two parts: a receiving part which receives cells from the physical layer port to store them in buffer then to send them to ATM layer, and a sending part which fetches cells stored in the buffer from ATM layer and send them to the physical layer port. The two parts made up of three sub-modules in sequential connections: UTOPIA interfacel processing unit connected with each physical layer port, a buffer made up of double ports FIFO memory and UTOPIA inferface II connected with ATM layer can finish the conversion of standard cell lengths of the above two interfaces at the same time in the process of accessing cells in the buffer.
