Embodiment 1

[0041] This example is used to illustrate the general method of preparation of the correction media of the present invention. Water, alkanolamine (to adjust pH), and antifoam are added to the vessel and mixed at low shear using a high speed disperser or rotor stator disperser. After approximately 5 minutes of mixing, the lecithin was added and high shear mixed for 45 minutes. Resin and wax emulsions are added with low shear mixing, followed by high shear mixing of pigments and fillers. Other additives included in the correction media layer or transfer layer are biocides, toners and surfactants. After mixing is complete, the correction medium should be left for 24 hours. This composition is then applied to the support member using a coater capable of applying a uniform amount of liquid and drying the wet film to a thickness of 14-28 microns. The pressure sensitive adhesive layer is then coated onto the correction medium layer using the same method to form the correction tape...

Embodiment 2

[0043] 28-32% by weight of water, 0.1-2% by weight of AMP-95 manufactured by ANGUS CHEMICAL Co. and 0.1-2% by weight of Dee Fo 97-3, an anti-foaming dispersant defoamer manufactured by Ultra Additives, were added to the container, and mixed with High speed disperser or rotor stator disperser for low shear mixing. After about 5 minutes of mixing, 0.5-1.5% by weight of polyvinylamine PVA manufactured by Polysciences was added as a bleed inhibitor and mixed at high shear for 45 minutes. Add 5-8% by weight of resin emulsion ACRONOL V-210 manufactured by BASF and 6-8% by weight of wax emulsion SLYP-AYD SL 340 E manufactured by ELEMENTIS and mix with low shear. Subsequently, high shear mixing in pigment, 30-50% by weight rutile TiO 2 and fillers, totaling 13-20% by weight. Other additives contained in the correction medium are 0.1-5% by weight biocide KATHON PFM manufactured by ROHM & HAAS, a total of 2% by weight organic toners TINTAYD WD 2115Violet and TINTAYD WD 2228 (0.015%), ...

Embodiment 3

[0045] 28-32% by weight of water, 0.1-2% by weight of AMP-95 manufactured by ANGUS CHEMICAL Co. and 0.1-2% by weight of Dee Fo 97-3, an anti-foaming dispersant defoamer manufactured by Ultra Additives, were added to the container, and mixed with High speed disperser or rotor stator disperser for low shear mixing. After mixing for about 5 minutes, 0.5-1.5% by weight of an exudation inhibitor mixture consisting of about 2 parts polyvinylamine, about 1 part lecithin, and about 1 part tallowamine was added and mixed at high shear for 45 minutes. Add 5-8% by weight of resin emulsion ACRONOL V-210 manufactured by BASF and 6-8% by weight of wax emulsion SLIP-AYD SL 340 E manufactured by ELEMENTIS and mix with low shear. Subsequently, high shear mixing in pigment, 30-50% by weight rutile TiO 2 and fillers, totaling 13-20% by weight. Other additives contained in the correction medium are 0.1-0.5% by weight of biocide KATHON PFM manufactured by ROHM & HAAS, 0.015% by weight of organic...

Abstract

The present invention is directed to a correction tape that the a support member, a transfer layer, and a correction medium layer. The correction medium layer incldues an opacifying pigment, binding polymer, and bleed inhibitor. Suitable bleed inhibitors include polyvinyl amines, phospholipids, tallow amines or combinations thereof. The blend inhibitor is present in an amount of between about 0.1% to 10% by weight.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] The present invention relates to a correction tape having dye migration retarding properties. More specifically, the correction tape of the present invention includes a correction medium layer containing an opaque pigment, an adhesive, and a bleed inhibitor, and a transfer layer on a support member, whereby the ink bleed resistance of the correction tape constituted is improved , which is used to mask error traces. [0002] Using correction tape is a common way to correct wrong marks. A typical correction tape consists of two parts: a polymer tape as the backbone and a correction composition which may be multi-layered. The correction composition may contain pigments, fillers such as clays, polymeric binders and dispersants to fix the pigments on the paper, and a dispersion medium or solvent to maintain the viscosity of the fluid. [0003] After depositing a layer of correction medium on the correction tape, the correction medium is transfe...
