Abstract

A DC power source (3), a parallel converter (4), and a serial converter (6) are parallel connected between both ends of an electrolytic capacitor (Cdc) comprising capacitors (C1, C2). An input terminal (Pin1) is connected to an intermediate point of the electrolytic capacitor (Cdc). A power source line (1n) which interconnects the input terminals (Pin1, Pout2) is connected with the node between the switching elements of the parallel converter (4) via a reactor (Lin), and the node between the switching elements of the serial converter (6) with an output terminal (Pout1) via a reactor (Lout). Capacitors (C) constituting filters along with reactors (L) are parallel connected between input and output terminals. When an abnormality occurs in the input voltage, the parallel converter (4) is actuated so that a parallel converter current (Ipara) May be equal to the output current (Iout), thus making the circuit operation equivalent to that in which the input side of the AC power is separated off. Successively, the serial converter (6) is actuated so that the output voltage (Vout) May be equal to the serial voltage command value (Vout*).
