Embodiment Construction

[0040] Reference is now made to the accompanying drawings, which are shown for purposes of illustration only and not limitation of the preferred embodiments of the invention. figure 1 Shown is a floor cleaning device 10 suitable for cleaning vinyl, ceramic and finished wood floors and other hard surfaces. The floor cleaning device 10 combines both mopping and suction functions, allowing the operator to quickly switch from dust suction to mopping.

[0041] The cleaning device 10 includes a cleaning head 12 for contacting a floor surface 13 to be cleaned and an elongated handle assembly 14 pivotally mounted to the cleaning head by a universal joint 16, best seen in FIG. During floor cleaning, the handle assembly 14 forms an acute angle with the direction of travel of the cleaning head 12 for guiding the cleaning head across the floor surface.

[0042] The suction nozzle 18 extends forward of the front end 20 of the cleaning head 12 for suctioning dust from the floor surface. I...

Abstract

A cleaning device (10, 300, 400, 480, 490, 500) includes a housing (28, 313, 422, 482, 502), a portion of which may be a handle (14, 314, 516). A cleaning head (12, 12', 312, 412, 520) is pivotally mounted to the housing or handle. The cleaning head selectively holds cleaning pads (70, 70', 370, 526) for collecting liquid, dust and debris from the surface to be cleaned. The nozzles (18, 318, 438, 508) are carried by the cleaning head or handle. A dust collection container (208) is mounted to the housing and is in flow communication with the suction nozzle and the blower and motor assembly (30). At least one nozzle (22, 22', 330, 332, 432, 506) may be mounted on the nozzle, on the cleaning head, on the housing or on the handle. A liquid delivery system (90, 90') delivers washing liquid to at least one nozzle.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to floor maintenance devices, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a combined floor mop and vacuum suction device. Background technique [0002] There are numerous products that can clean hard surfaces such as tile floors, hardwood floors and similar surfaces. Many of these products include guide handles and sponges for absorbing fluid washing compositions. The sponge is rinsed periodically to remove dust, mud and other debris. These products are not designed to handle larger particle materials such as chips and the like. This material is removed either by using a broom or by using a vacuum cleaner. [0003] Nonwoven sheets have been used for dry dust type cleaning. As disclosed, for example, in US Patent Nos. 3,629,047 and 5,144,729. These pads are designed to electrostatically attract dust particles, minimizing the amount of residue left on the surface being swept. [0004] More recently, cleanin...
