A spacer which can effectively discharge secondary electrons and an electron emission display having the spacer include: a main body disposed between first and second substrates which have first and second electrode layers, respectively; and a coating layer formed on a side surface of the main body. The coating layer has a first portion contacting one of the first and second electrode layers and a second portion formed on a central portion of the side surface of the main body.
