Abstract

A gripping method for a turbocharger housing used to process a turbocharger housing formed by casting, includes a scroll formed in a spiral shape from an axial center, and a large diameter hole and a small diameter hole provided along an axial direction of the scroll with space therebetween, such as to face each other. After positioning of the turbocharger housing is performed using an end surface of the large diameter hole facing the small diameter hole as a reference surface for positioning in the axial direction, an inner diameter of the large diameter hole is gripped.

TECHNICAL FIELD[0001]The present invention relates to a gripping method for a turbocharger housing and a work gripping method that are suitable for use in processing a turbocharger housing.BACKGROUND ART[0002]Conventionally, a turbocharger is commonly added as an additional device to an engine of an automobile and the like to augment output from or enhance exhaust efficiency of the engine. The turbocharger augments the output from and enhances the exhaust efficiency of the engine as follows. The turbocharger rotates a turbine using exhaust gas from the engine. The turbocharger then drives a compressor provided on a same axis as the turbine and compresses air drawn into the engine.
