The carrier 12 has a cover 16 that opens and closes to remove the carrier 12 from the rack 14. The carrier 12 is particularly suited for housing a hard disk drive, or other memory storage device. The carrier 12 is fabricated from sheet metal to conduct heat from the carrier and to shield electro-magnetic interference between electronics housed by the carrier 12.
