Abstract

A method of filling a bag with an alcoholic beverage is provided which inflates the bag with an inert gas prior to filling the bag with the beverage. The inert gas is vented from the bag as the bag is filled with beverage. By initially inflating the bag with the inert gas so that the bag is not inflated during the step of filling the bag with the beverage, the inert gas thus acts to expel any air trapped within the bag during beverage filling and the bag is less prone to rupture. During venting, an inert gas and air mixture is expelled from the bag. The possibility of air being trapped in the bag and damaging the beverage in the bag is reduced. The bag, on the other hand, fits inside the container and also evacuates the air between the container and the bag. The inert gas can be CO when the drink is beer 2 or nitrogen. A valve and valve and barrel assembly for an alcohol dispensing device are also provided.
