Embodiment Construction

[0034] figure 1 Study 1 comprising two sequences 2,3 is shown. Sequence 2 includes three instances in the form of individual images 4-6. Sequence 3 likewise contains three individual images 7-9. In this exemplary embodiment, studies according to the DICOM standard are involved. Besides individual images 4-9, there are other DICOM instances, such as so-called structured documents and so-called multi-component objects. Also belonging to this multicomponent object are DICOM multiframe objects, eg in enhanced MR, CT and XA. Here and below Study 1, Sequences 2, 3 and Individual Images 4-9 are collectively referred to as examples of image data.

[0035] figure 2 In the upper part three individual images 4-6 are shown, which consist of so-called headers (image headers) 4.1, 5.1 and 6.1 and pixel data 4.2, 5.2 and 6.2 respectively. The relevant DICOM headers 4.1, 5.1, 6.1 respectively contain additional data about the image, such as the relevant study 1, the relevant sequence 2...

Abstract

To increase the efficiency of the management of image data in a data network including a multiplicity of network nodes, at least one embodiment of the present invention provides for image data, having been stored at a network node provided as a buffer store, to be transmitted for archiving to a network node provided as an archive store and to be stored there, with the storage of the respective image data in the buffer store and in the archive store involving a reference to the respective network node being recorded in an index in conjunction with an explicit identifier for the respective image data. Further, in at least one embodiment, the index is used when the stored image data are subsequently loaded to ascertain the respective at least one network node at which the respective image data are stored.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method and a data network for managing medical image data. Background technique [0002] Medical image data are generated digitally in various ways in modern medical technology. Very widespread is the production of medical image data by diagnostic modalities such as computed tomography systems, digital x-ray systems, magnetic resonance tomography systems and digital ultrasound systems. In addition, medical image data is also produced by scanning conventional X-ray films. Image data may also be in the form of video clips produced by endoscopy. In many applications, for example in hospitals, medical image data are transmitted via data networks. Modalities are often directly connected in this data network as network nodes. The medical image data generated there are transmitted from the individual modalities, for example, to workstations for viewing and processing the medical image data and to archive storage, which are each ...
